In 1997, Auburn softball competed in its inaugural season. Throughout the 2022 campaign, we are celebrating the many faces, moments and victories that have shaped our program over the last 25 years.
As part of our 25 Years of Auburn Softball celebration, we're checking in with alumni from every era of the program to share their memories of being a Tiger.
Growing up in Auburn, Starr Dorsey (2005-08) made her dreams come true by spending her collegiate career on the Plains.
Q: Why did you decide to continue your softball career at Auburn?
Dorsey: Auburn was home since the day I was born. It only made sense to continue my softball career at Auburn and make it my home for college.
Q: What is your favorite on-field memory?
Dorsey: Our Ole Miss series my senior year. Game three was very heated, but our whole team pulled together to win. Brittany Day came in and thew great after Anna Thompson was tossed, and Krista Clyde went up and over the fence to bring back in a long ball. It was just all-in-all a great game.
Q: Why is one of your favorite memories with a teammate?
Dorsey: Honestly, all the great times we had on the bus on the way to games. We all had our own superstitions, but listening to music, dancing and just acting crazy to get loose before the games are what I miss the most!
Q: Who influenced your softball career the most?
Dorsey: My mom, dad and grandad. They supported me through all the highs and lows and pushed me to be the best I could be.
Q: What was your favorite uniform combo?
Dorsey: All blue with white socks, white belt and white helmet
Q: What advice would you give to current/future Auburn softball student-athletes?
Dorsey: Take every advantage of every moment.
Q: What degree did you earn? What is your current career path?
Dorsey: Earned my undergraduate degree in criminology before getting my master's in special education. I am currently teaching high school special education.
