KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The final day of action at the 2023 NCAA Women's Swim and Dive National Championships saw Auburn deliver another All-American. Senior Averee Preble led the charge in the mile as the Tigers closed the meet in 26th place.
Fresh off an All-American performance in the 400 medley relay a night ago, Ellie Waldrep kept the momentum going dropping over a second in the 200 back with a season-best 1:54.00 and 32nd place. Daisy Platts came in at 29th with a 1:53.75.
Polina Nevmovenko took a crack at the 100 free. Hitting the wall at 49.48, the Russian international took 59th.
Both Hannah Ownbey and Anastasia Makarova each swam in the 200 breast. A 2:12.33 for Ownbey gave her 44th place while Makarova took 54th.
Swimming a suited 200 fly for the first time all season, Meghan Lee proved she is up to the task in almost any race. Throwing down the fourth-fastest swim in program history, Lee's 1:55.40 was good enough for 20th.
For the final time in her Auburn career, Averee Preble stepped to the blocks in the 1650. The California native left all she had in the pool, clocking a 16:02.99. Not only did the swim make Averee the seventh-fastest performer in school history but is also gave Preble All-American Honorable Mention honor for the first time in her career.
Rounding out the week, Lexie Mulvihill, Polina Nevmovenko, Meghan Lee and Emma Steckiel combined for a 3:15.46.
When all the dust settled, Auburn collected 14 total team points for 26th place, it's highest finish since 2019. Individually, eight swimmers combined for 10 All-American honors.
