Tigers earn 25 bids to NCAA East Preliminaries

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn track & field begins on the road to NCAA Outdoor Championships with the NCAA East Preliminaries at the Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida, May 24-27. A total of 25 Auburn student-athletes will compete in 19 individual events and one relay in hopes of making it to the national championships in Austin, Texas, June 7-10.

Both the East and West Preliminaries will take the top 12 finishers in each event, with all 24 squaring off for top honors at NCAA Championships. The West Preliminaries will be held at California State University, in Sacramento, California.

On the women's side, the Tigers will have 13 competitors while the men will send 12. Of the 25 competing, seven Tigers have competed previously at NCAA Outdoors. The men include Favour Ashe, Kyle Brown, Dontavious Hill, and Moitalel Mpoke, with the women including Sanaa Barnes, Madi Malone, Maura Huwalt, and Shaniya Holley.

Another NCAA Outdoors qualifier is junior John Murray, who has already punched his ticket to Nationals in the decathlon. Murray will be competing in his first NCAA Outdoor Championship in Austin.
