16 Tigers to compete the Phillips 66 National Championships

AUBURN, Ala. – Sixteen Tigers are headed to Indianapolis, Ind. for the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships June 27 – July 1. The collection of Tigers along with some of the world's best swimmers will vie for not only a national title but also an opportunity to represent the United States at four major international competitions later this summer.
 
Avery Bargeron, Casey Cullen, Brynn Curtis, Lexie Mulvihill, Hannah Ownbey, Ellie Waldrep, Henry Bethel, Michael Bonson, Grant Davis, Ryan Husband, Mason Mathias, Evan McInerny, Jacques Rathle, Andrew Simmons, Aidan Stoffle and Nate Stoffle will all make the trip to Indianapolis.
 
Prelims are slated for 9 a.m. CT daily with finals scheduled for 6 p.m. CT each evening.
 
For those not in attendance at the Indiana University Natatorium, prelims will be streamed daily at usaswimming.org/watch and finals can be viewed live on Peacock.
 
One of the four major events on the summer calendar includes the 2023 World Aquatics Championships (July 14-30) are less than a month away in Fukuoka, Japan. Valerie Tarazi has already punched her ticket, claiming a spot on the Palestinian National Team.
 
The full schedule of events for the Phillips 66 National Championships is listed below.

200 butterfly
100 freestyle
Women's 800 freestyle
Men's 1500 freestyle
 
Day 2 – Wednesday, June 28
200 freestyle
200 breaststroke
200 backstroke
50 butterfly*
 
Day 3 – Thursday, June 29
400 individual medley
100 butterfly
50 breaststroke*
50 backstroke*
 
Day 4 – Friday, June 30
400 freestyle
100 breaststroke
100 backstroke
 
Day 5 – Saturday, July 1
Women's 1500 freestyle
200 individual medley
Men's 800 freestyle

On Day 1 and Day 5, the distance freestyle events will be swum slowest to fastest, alternating women's and men's heats, with the fastest heat of each race swum during the evening session.  All other heats will be scheduled to begin after the preliminary session so the second fastest heat of the Men's event finishes approximately one hour prior to the start of the evening session.  
 
*Qualifying standards for the 50m Butterfly, Backstroke, and Breaststroke will be the corresponding 100 standards.
