CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Auburn had its best round of the Tar Heel Invitational on Tuesday, firing a 7-under 281 to earn second place in the field of 14. Casey Weidenfeld finished the event at 10-under (206) and earned individual runner-up honors for the second time this fall. Weidenfeld's tournament was highlighted by a final round 65 (-7) in the final round.

"The girls fought hard today," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the final round. "All week long, our par-3 game was superb and we led the field in birdies. With that being said, we left some shots out there. Once we clean those things up, we'll be in the winner's circle."

Weidenfeld claimed the best round of the day on Tuesday with a bogey-free 65 that featured five birdies on the second nine at the Governors Club. The redshirt sophomore tallied 12 birdies over all three rounds and led the field in par-4 scoring at 7-under. This is Weidenfeld's second runner-up finish of the 2023-24 campaign, as she also finished in a tie for second individually at the Mason Rudolph Championship to begin the season.

Megan Schofill finished the event in a tie for 10th place at 1-under (215) and earned her second top-10 of the season. Schofill made the final round her best of the tournament with a 2-under 70. She also finished the event with 12 birdies and second best in par-3 scoring individually.

Anna Foster mirrored Schofill in the final round, as she also posted a 70 on Tuesday. Her three-round total of 216 (E) placed her in a tie for 12th on the individual leaderboard.
"Great round from Casey and her second runner-up of the season," Luellen continued. "Top-12 finish from Megan and Anna, our two seniors, just showing great leadership."

Despite a difficult 5-over 77 in her final round, Ami Gianchandani still earned a top-20 finish individually. Her 4-over 220 over all three rounds led to a tie for 20th place finish.
Sophomore Katie Cranston recorded the final counting score on Tuesday for the Tigers with a 76 (+4). She finished the event in a tie for 36th at 7-over (223).

Tuesday also marked Auburn's second team runner-up finish of the season, as the Tigers also claimed second at the Mason Rudolph Championship. Auburn completed the Tar Heel Invitational eight shots behind champion Florida and 14 shots ahead of third place North Carolina.

Up next, the Tigers will travel to the Stanford Intercollegiate Presented by Dr. Condoleezza Rice on October 20-22 in Stanford, California.
