STANFORD, Calif. – No. 9 Auburn completed the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate on Saturday. The Tigers improved on their first round score by three shots by recording a 290 (+6) in round two and are in a tie for 11th place in the event.
"Conditions were more challenging with the wind in the afternoon," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the round. "A few of the girls struggled with ball striking but really dug in to make some gritty pars. Ami played very solid all day. I know she was disappointed with her finish. I truly feel that the last day will be our best day."
Graduate student Ami Gianchandani bounced back after a difficult opening round by firing a 2-under 69 in round two featuring six birdies. Gianchandani's fourth round under par this season places her in a tie for 36th individually through 36-holes.
Carys Worby followed up an impressive round on Friday with a second round 73 (+2). Worby is in a tie for 23rd place on the individual leaderboard through two rounds.
Redshirt sophomore Casey Weidenfeld also recorded a 73 in her second round with three birdies while senior Anna Foster carded a 4-over 75 on Saturday. Weidenfeld and Foster are now tied for 53rd and tied for 61st in the field, respectively.
