BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Madison Scheer collected her second and third-straight 20-kill performances over the weekend, earning wins over rivals Georgia and Alabama in the process. The SEC has announced Scheer as the Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts on Monday.
The sophomore outside hitter had just secured a career-high 24 kills against South Carolina last Sunday. A week later and on the road in a hostile environment, Scheer put down another 24 kills versus Georgia during the Tigers' reverse sweep of the Bulldogs.
On Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Scheer was virtually unstoppable once again. Piling up 21 kills on .306 hitting, she powered Auburn to its sixth straight win over in-state rival Alabama.
In total, Scheer stacked up 45 kills, averaging .304 hitting, 5.00 kills per set, 5.33 points per set and added six blocks in Auburn's perfect, 2-0, rivalry weekend.
Scheer has picked up the weekly honor for the third time in her career. The Eureka, Missouri native won the award earlier this season after iconic matches against then No. 9 Florida and South Carolina, also picking up AVCA National Player of the Week honors. She also earned the honor during her freshman campaign following a pair of stellar showings against the Crimson Tide.
