Swim and Dive finishes strong at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Matching the solid performances from their teammates in Dallas, the Auburn Swim and Dive managed a dominating win on the men's side and solid finish on the women's.

MEN
Auburn was not going to let a good opportunity go to waste. Michael Bonson, Ryan Husband, Jon Vanzandt and Josh Noll started things off with a tidy 2:56.88 in the 200 medley relay to earn the win and get the point scoring started.
 
Bonson was quickly back to the blocks in the 500 free, powering to another victory with a 4:19.82 and an NCAA B cut. Grant Davis would go on to grab fourth.
 
Youngster Liam Heary led the way in the 200 breast, finishing second at 2:00.55 with Alejandro Flores right behind.
 
Auburn broke out the brooms in the 200 back. Andrew Simmons paced the field with a  1:44.87. Josh Noll and Harrison Ranier rounded out the sweep.
 
Ranier was back in the winner's circle in the 200 IM, dialing up a 1:48.50 for the win. Simmons would take third and Nolle fifth.
 
Hunter Kebler was the top scorer for the men on the 3-meter, dialing up a 326.40.
 
The Tigers went two, three, four in the 100 free. Sohib Khaled led the group, touching in at 44.61. Husband and Vanzandt followed closely behind.
 
Evan McInerny produced another win for Auburn in the 200 fly. His 1:46.89 won by almost a full second. Rusty Jerger and Lucas Thomas would round out fourth and fifth.
 
From start to finish, the men dominated the Cardinals. Khaled, Husband, Noll and Bonson finish off the meet with a win in the 200 free relay at 1:20.43.
 
WOMEN
Trailing after day one, the Auburn Women went right to work on Saturday morning. Lawson Ficken, Wyllo Hanson, Morgan Carteaux and Payton Marvin all combined for a solid 3:17.75 in the 200 medley relay to earn the victory and kick the day off on the right foot.
 
Casey Cullen and Katie Russell did the heavy lifting in the 500 free. Cullen managed a 4:53.71 to finish third with Russell right behind in fourth.
 
Breaststroke queen Brynn Curtis grabbed another crown in the 200 with a 2:12.09. Freshmen Zoey Zeller, Aislyn Barnett and Olivia Dinehart would also secure third, fourth and fifth place.
 
The Tigers nearly swept the 200 back thanks to Maggie McGuire, Jade Castro and Kyla Maloney. McGuire hit the wall first at 1:56.98 with Castro right behind in second. Maloney would touch in at third.
 
Over in the diving well, Kyleigh Kidd solidified a podium finish, grabbing third with a 284.18 on the 3-meter. Abigail Farrar was close behind in fourth while freshman Kayla Walsh secured fifth.
 
Ficken was back on the blocks in the 100 free, flashing her speed with a 49.31 and a second-place finish. Emma Steckiel and Wyllo Hanson would grab fourth and fifth.
 
Abigail Gibbons led an Auburn sweep in the 200 fly. Gibbons' 1:59.45 was more than good enough for the win while Casey Cullen and Avery Bargeron charged in for second and third.
 
Nearly going sub-two minutes, Maggie Gholston finished second in the 200 IM with a 2:01.11. The youngster Zeller dialed up another solid swim to secure fourth.
 
Steckiel, Ficken, Hanson and Carteaux capped off a dramatic win with a victory in the 200 free relay.
