AUBURN, Ala. – An Auburn legacy is staying home as Syriah Daniels will join the Auburn women's basketball program for the 2024-25 season after signing a National Letter of Intent Thursday.

Daniels, a 6-0 wing from Auburn, is a senior at Auburn High School this year. Last season, she averaged 27 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists and was a first-team All-State selection.

She is the daughter of Marquis Daniels, former Auburn men's standout and current director of player development, and the late Shana Askew Daniels, a former star for the Auburn women's team.

"Syriah is a big guard who is a triple-threat player," Auburn head coach Johnnie Harris said. "Defensively, she can guard 1 through 4, which will help us in our style of play. She's an asset to our program, a great kid from a great family, and with two parents who both played for Auburn, she loves Auburn and wants to continue her family legacy."

Daniels was a finalist for 2023 Alabama Miss Basketball and nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year. She is rated as the No. 97 national recruit by Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report and No. 21 at her position. She also won a state title in flag football with Auburn High last season, winning the championship game at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Off the court, Daniels is an honor student, maintaining a GPA above 3.8.

"I picked Auburn because of the family environment it carries and how it's welcoming to everyone," Daniels said. "I wasn't born here but I was always around it. The love and support you get from the people in Auburn is genuine and sincere. It's something you can't get from just anywhere."

Daniels joins fellow in-state signee Jordan Hunter, who signed Wednesday, as the first two members of the Auburn signing class for 2024-25.
