AUBURN, Ala. - No. 15 Auburn is set to play in the Moon Golf Invitational for the fourth consecutive season at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida. Due to expected inclement weather on Sunday, the first nine holes of the opening round will be played on Saturday afternoon, a day earlier than originally scheduled.
The strong field for the event will feature 12 teams in the top-25 including top ranked Wake Forest, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 9 Florida, No. 10 LSU, No. 11 Ole Miss and No. 12 Texas A&M. At last season's event, the Tigers posted a fourth place finish in a 17-team field with a 56-hole total of 849 (-15) and Casey Weidenfeld finished in the top-10 individually, firing a 6-under 210.
Auburn moved up two spots in the rankings after an impressive showing in its last event at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The Tigers ended the tournament on a high note, carding a final round 277 (-11) to finish the event with a 54-hole total of 856 (-8) and a third-place finish.
Megan Schofill will enter the Moon Golf Invitational as the team leader in scoring average this season at 70.58. Schofill began the spring season with a third-place individual finish in Puerto Rico, shooting a 7-under 209. Senior Anna Foster will also be entering the tournament with momentum, as she fired a career-low 65 (-7) in the final round.
The shotgun start for the first nine holes of the opening round will be at 1 p.m. CT. The field will attempt to play on Sunday if the weather allows, then finish the 54-hole event on Monday and Tuesday.
