BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – An Amelia Lech solo blast in the seventh inning made it a one-run ball game, but No. 25 Auburn softball (15-8-1, 2-6 SEC) came up short, 2-3, as No. 12 Texas A&M (27-4, 7-1 SEC) claimed the series Saturday at Davis Diamond.

Auburn totaled three hits in Saturday's contest as Lech and Wohlers both knocked solo home runs to plate the Tigers' two runs. Wohlers's homer came in the first inning to give Auburn an early lead. Rose Roach added a single in the sixth inning to round out Auburn's offense.

The Aggies used small ball to plate runs in the third and fifth innings to take a 2-1 lead. A solo home run from Allie Enright in the sixth inning proved to be the deciding factor in the game.

Maddie Penta went the distance in the circle, scattering three runs off five hits and a walk in her six innings of work. Penta struck out seven to join Anna Thompson as the only two Tigers in program history to record 800 career strikeouts. Penta fell to 8-5 on the season.

Sunday's series finale on the SEC Network+ is set for 1 p.m. CT.
