INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Auburn added two more All-American performances on the third day of competition at the 2024 Men's NCAA Championships inside IU Natatorium. Both Danny Schmidt (400 IM) and Aidan Stoffle (100 back) scored valuable points as the Tiger sit 12th with 72 points.
Schmidt, the German International, made the largest waves individually on Friday. The sophomore sprang for an even 3:41.00 in the 400 IM to qualify 12th overall. The mark was also good enough to jump Schmidt to second all-time at Auburn.
In the night session, Schmidt powered to another solid 3:41.31 to secure 14th overall and All-America Honorable Mention honors.
Brothers Aidan Stoffle and Nate Stoffle swam in the same heat of the 100 back in the morning prelims. It was Aidan's 45.01 that paced the Tigers and earned the graduate student a second swim in the B final. His second swim produced a 45.30, leaving him 15th overall.
Nate hit the wall at 45.31 for 18th.
Jacques Rathle swam well in the 400 IM in prelims, securing 20th with a 3:43.04.
In the 100 fly, Sohib Khaled couldn't quite equal his lifetime best of 45.20 but with a 45.78, the Egyptian took 30th overall.
Ryan Husband led the charge in the 200 free with a 1:33.14 to take 31st. Mason Mathias was right on his heels to grab 32nd at 1:33.28.
In what turned out to be a lightning-fast prelims, Henry Bethel's 52.06 put the Georgia native in 22nd.
Auburn's 400 medley relay team was disqualified due to an early take-off.
