AUBURN, AL – A new era of Auburn softball is beginning under the direction of co-head coaches Chris and Kate Malveaux and with them are eight new Tigers on The Plains looking to help make a mark in year one.
Hailing from Leander, Texas, SJ Geurin joins the Tigers after spending the last two seasons as part of the Oklahoma pitching staff. The left-handed hurler brings depth to the bullpen and is expected to play a large role in the pitching rotation.
Q: How old were you when you started playing softball? What are your earliest memories of the sport?
Geurin: I was seven when I first started playing softball. I remember that all I wanted to do was play in the dirt, but my mom wouldn’t let me.
Q: Who has influenced your softball career the most?
Geurin: My mom. She was my pitching coach my whole life prior to college.
Q: What advice would you give your younger self?
Geurin: That it is just a game. It doesn’t define who you are. It’s something you’ve been blessed to play and remember that blessing.
Q: Why did you decide Auburn was the best fit to continue your collegiate career?
Geurin: As soon as I stepped onto campus, it felt like home. I love the environment and the culture the coaching staff is creating.
