AUBURN, Ala. – Another day, another victory for Auburn as Whit Andrus capped off his weekend with a win on the Tower on Friday inside the James E. Martin Aquatic Center. Meanwhile, four Tigers made finals on the women’s side to cap off a strong showing for the Orange and Blue on the penultimate day of competition.
Andrus was steady all afternoon long. The senior from Winston-Salem, North Carolina put up a 354.45 in prelims to qualify third overall. Freshman Travis Keith dialed up a solid showing in the morning with a 312.90 to earn a second list along with Talan Blackmon (310.20) and Ethan Swart (276.30).
In finals, it was all Andrus. A crisp 367.65 was more than enough to take the crown and finish the week with a victory. Blackmon would go on to finish seventh, Keith ninth and Swart rounded out the Orange and Blue’s performance in 11th.
Sophomore Kayla Walsh put on a show during prelims on the 3-meter. Walsh’s stellar 292.20 led the Tigers and was good enough for fifth place before finals. Kyleigh Kidd (287.95), Emily Hallifax (275.20) and Chloe Brothers (264.95) all earned a place in the afternoon session as well.
Much like Thursday, it was freshman Chloe Brothers who dug deep in her second list. She would go on to finish sixth overall at an even 277.00. Kidd was right behind in seventh, Walsh grabbed ninth and Hallifax would solidify 11th.
