AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn gymnastics team remains at No. 12 in this week’s RoadToNationals rankings with a 196.475 average.
The Tigers are coming off a 196.700-196.250 win over Arkansas in their home opener last Friday night in Neville Arena.
Oklahoma remains on the top with a 197.758 average. LSU is second (197.500) and Florida moved up to third with a 197.043 average. Michigan State (197.000) and Utah (196.958) round out the top five.
The rest of the SEC is among the top 20. Kentucky is sixth with Alabama (No. 10), Missouri (No. 11), Auburn and Georgia (No. 13) all clustered together. Arkansas ranks No. 17.
Auburn’s beam squad is ninth nationally with a 49.192 average. Vault (49.075) and bars (49.125) are both 13th, while floor remains in the top 20 at No. 16 (49.083).
Individually, freshman Katelyn Jong moved up to 16th in the all-around with a 39.383 average after winning her second-straight title on Friday. She also won the bars crown following her third-consecutive 9.9, ranking tied for sixth in the event.
Sophomore Paige Zancan is tied for 16th on vault with a 9.875 average and freshman Marissa Neal is tied for 18th on beam with a 9.875 mark. Both Tigers won their events vs. Arkansas with career highs last Friday.
Auburn will welcome No. 9 Oregon State to the Plains on Friday, January 24 in a non-conference contest in Neville Arena. The Tigers and the Beavers will face off at 8:30 p.m. CT and the meet will be televised on ESPN2.
