AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn gymnastics team moved up to No. 11 in this week’s RoadToNationals.com rankings after putting together a season-high 197.025 last Friday.
The team is coming off another victory, defeating No. 9 Oregon State by .050 points. The Beavers came in second in the dual with a 196.975.
Oklahoma remains on the top with a 197.706 average. Florida jumped up to No. 2 with a 197.417, while LSU is third at 197.275. Utah (No. 4) and Michigan State (No. 5) round out the top five.
The rest of the SEC remains among the top 20. Kentucky is seventh with Missouri (No. 9), Auburn, Georgia (No. 12), Arkansas (No. 13) and Alabama (No. 14) all clustered together.
Auburn’s beam squad climbed up to No. 6 nationally with a 49.256 average following a season-best 49.450 vs. Oregon State. Bars moved up two slots to No. 11 (49.138), while floor is ranked No. 14 (49.163). Vault remains in the top 20 at No. 17 (49.056).
Individually, freshman Katelyn Jong is 15th in the all-around with a 39.412 average after tying a career high last week (39.500). She captured her third-straight bars crown vs. the Beavers with a career-best 9.925 and is ranked seventh nationally in the event (9.906).
Freshman Marissa Neal is tied for ninth nationally on beam with a 9.9 average. She put together a career-high 9.975 to win a share of the event title last week. Sophomore Paige Zancan is tied for 13th on vault with a 9.883 average, winning her second-straight vault title on Friday with a career-best 9.9.
Auburn takes to the road for a Friday night meet at No. 7 Kentucky. The Tigers and the Wildcats will face off at 6 p.m. CT and the meet will be streamed on SEC Network+.
