AUBURN, Ala- No. 21 Auburn is set to play in the Moon Golf Invitational Sunday through Tuesday at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida. This will mark the fifth consecutive season that the Tigers have taken part in the event, with their best finish being a runner-up last season.

“We always look forward to this event,” said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. “It’s a great tournament with an amazing field. Anne Moon and Courtney Trimble, who are both Auburn alums, run a fabulous golf tournament and everyone wants to be in this tournament.

“Suntree is a pretty flat golf course, it has a fair amount of water and it can get windy. In Puerto Rico, we had a one direction wind, but now we get into winds that are a little bit more swirly and more complicated to figure out.”

Auburn kicked off the spring portion of its schedule at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic earlier in the month and finished in a tie for sixth place out of 18 teams. Freshman Balma Dávalos posted her best individual finish of the season in the event, a tie for 11th place. The freshman led the Tigers at the event at 1-under (215) highlighted by a final round 69 (-3). Dávalos recorded four birdies during the third round, including both par 3s on the front nine at Grand Reserve Golf Club.

Sophomore Anna Davis continues to lead the team this season in scoring average (69.57), total birdies (54) and rounds under par (8).

The Tigers will be joined in the 17-team field by 10 other teams in the top 25 including No. 4 South Carolina, No. 6 Texas, No. 7 Florida State, No. 9 Northwestern and No. 10 Virginia.

Auburn’s team participants will tee off starting at 7 a.m. CT alongside players from Louisville and South Carolina. Live scoring of the tournament will be available online at scoreboard.clippd.com.
