AUBURN, Ala. – After Auburn’s emphatic pair of dual wins against Alabama, head coach Ryan Wochomurka and the Tigers prepare for the AU Invite/First Chance Feb. 7-8 inside James E. Martin Aquatics Center.
The action begins with session one on Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. CT. Live results will be available through Meet Mobile.
Auburn gave its seniors one last triumph in dual season, toppling rival Alabama on both the men’s and women’s sides. The men earned a 177.5-122.5 victory over the Crimson Tide while the women won, 168-132.
Polina Nevmovenko, Bella Ekk, and Maggie McGuire swept the podium in the 200 free to get momentum on the side of the Orange and Blue. Lawson Ficken, Lora Komoroczy, and Abby Gibbons equaled the effort, earning the top three in the 100 fly.
Komoroczy’s 100 back performance puts the freshman as the second-fastest performer in Auburn history at 51.37.
On the men’s side, Mason Mathias won the 500 free and put up the second-fastest 1000 free in school history, hitting the wall at 8:52.41.
Not only did Nate Stoffle take the win in the 200 back putting up a time of 1:40.00, but along with Tate Cutler and Sohib Khaled, the trio swept the 100 back to keep Alabama from gaining any momentum.
In the diving well, both the men and women had impressive outings, racking up important points for the Tigers. Kayla Walsh dialed up her first career win in the 3-meter with a score of 310.43 while Kyleigh Kidd earned her first win of the season in the 1-meter with a 289.80.
