AUBURN, Ala. – Offense came at a premium Sunday at Jane B. Moore Field as No. 20 Auburn softball (20-8, 0-6 SEC) fell 3-0 to No. 5 Texas A&M (24-4, 4-2 SEC) in the series finale.

Auburn totaled just one hit, an AnnaLea Adams single in the first inning, as Texas A&M’s Emiley Kennedy and Auburn’s pitching staff traded shutout innings for most of the contest.

“(Emiley Kennedy) is an All-American for a reason,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux. “We tried to make some adjustments at the plate. We felt like we stayed with what we were looking for. When we got it, we went for it. We just didn’t have the results whether it was hard groundouts or fly balls. We couldn’t line it up enough. We couldn’t get it to fall.”

Walks hurt the Tigers in the first inning as three loaded the bases with one out for Mac Barbara, who drove in two with a single to center. Those would be the only runs to score until the seventh. The final Aggie run came across in the final frame as Texas A&M kept a rundown alive long enough to score.

Auburn had four Tigers reach base throughout the contest, but was unable to string together hits to push across runs.

Icess Tresvik has a strong relief appearance in the circle. In 2.1 innings of work, she allowed just two hits and a pair of walks while striking out two. SJ Geurin did most of the work in the circle for the Tigers, tossing four relief innings. Chalea Clemmons suffered the loss, falling to 4-4 on the season.
