AUBURN, Ala. – A three-run first inning and a strong relief effort by SJ Geurin led No. 19 Auburn to a 4-3 win over Louisiana on Sunday at Jane B. Moore Field as the Tigers went undefeated at the Jane B. Moore Memorial.
With the win, the Tigers also remain unbeaten at home and improved their overall record to 19-1 heading into the final nonconference contest before the start of Southeastern Conference play.
“We want to be firing on all cylinders come May, so we do have some things to clean up,” said co-head coach Kate Malveaux. “We still have things to learn, but a win is a win. We had some great at-bats. We were able to adjust throughout the game. If we can continue to stick with the gameplan, we’re going to be just fine.”
All three of Louisiana’s runs scored on Sunday were unearned as four Tiger errors in the contest proved costly, but the defense also came up big when it mattered most to leave 10 Ragin’ Cajuns left on base.

Geurin played a big factor in the win as she tossed 5.1 innings of relief. Charged with two unearned runs, she scattered five hits and struck out four, relying on the Tiger defense to make plays with traffic on the bases.
Auburn was able to outhit the Ragin’ Cajuns at the plate and used a three-run first to hang on for the win.
Freshman AnnaLea Adams continued her outstanding tournament run with a 2-for-3 effort, adding a double and an RBI. Adams closed the weekend batting .800 behind four RBI. Amelia Lech also turned in a multi-hit outing, going 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and a walk on Sunday. The Tiers also used RBI from Rose Roach and KK McCrary to secure the win.
Making her first start of the season in the circle, Icess Tresvik went 1.2 inning against the Ragin’ Cajuns. Louisiana scored in the first frame without a hit using free passes, a passed ball and wild pitch to score an unearned run.
Auburn immediately responded with a two-out rally in the home half. With a runner at third, McCrary, Adams and Lech all traded back-to-back-to-back RBI hits to put the Tigers in front 3-1. The Tigers struck again with two outs in the third as Roach delivered an RBI single to right field to make it a 4-1 contest.
Costly errors in the fifth and seventh innings allowed Louisiana to score twice, cutting the lead to one run. Despite having the tying run in scoring position, Geurin quieted the noise with an infield pop up to Roach at second to end the game, improving her record in the circle to 12-0.
