AUBURN, Ala. – MalveauxMania featured a slugfest as Auburn softball used six home runs, including the walk-off winner from KK McCrary, to take down No. 18 Georgia 11-10 Friday night at Jane B. Moore Field.

“The biggest thing tonight was that we just played the game and enjoyed being out there,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux. “We haven’t seen that team in a long time. It was refreshing to see that. That’s how we started the season off the first two weekends. We didn’t care what the situation was, we just got after it. It was refreshing to see it come back around, especially for those seniors.”

Auburn set a program record with six home runs in Friday’s game. Rose Roach and KK McCrary both slugged a pair of homers while Icess Tresvik and AnnaLea Adams joined the duo by going yard. Despite Georgia outhitting the Tigers 13 to 11, Auburn came from behind for the 18th time this season to secure the win.

McCrary closed the game 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. Roach went 2-for-4 with the first multi-home run game of her career. She added two RBI and two runs scored. Tresvik and Adams both added two hits and two RBI to the stat sheet.

Adams is now tied with Jessie Blaine (2022) for the fourth most home runs hit by a Tiger freshman with nine total.

Haley Rainey and SJ Geurin both saw time in the circle. Geurin tossed 3.1 innings of relief and allowed just one earned run off four hits and two walks. Rainey earned the start and re-entered the game in the seventh inning to ultimately earn the win to improve to 5-3. She struck out a season high six batters.

The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with Adams’s two-run blast to straightaway center, but the Bulldogs answered in the top of the second with a three-run shot from Tyler Ellison to give Georgia its first lead of the game.

Auburn punched back in the second frame with home runs from Roach, Tresvik and McCrary to jump back in front 6-3. The lead changed for the fourth time in the top of the third as Georgia used five hits to manufacture four runs.

The back-and-forth continued in the fourth inning as the Tigers took advantage of Georgia miscues to tie the game. Abbey Smith put Auburn in front 8-7 with an RBI single to center field.

After a scoreless fifth inning, which also featured an over 30-minut weather delay, Georgia tied the game at 8-8 with a sacrifice fly. Roach answered in the home half of the sixth inning with her second solo homer of the game to give the Tigers a one-run lead.

The dramatics continued in the seventh as Georgia had two runners in scoring position with two outs.  Lyndi Rae Davis cleared the bags with a single to right field to put Georgia up 10-9. With Adams on board after a hit by pitch, McCrary delivered the final blow with a home run to right center for Auburn’s fifth walk-off win of the season.
