AUBURN, Ala. – In the final midweek contests at Jane B. Moore Field this season, Auburn softball (24-15) hosts UAB (16-21) for a doubleheader Wednesday night.
“You feel like every in-state game is a grind,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux. “They are a pretty good offensive team. I think they’ve been trying to figure out a few things with their pitching staff as the season has gone on. They are a good team athletically. We have to be ready for them. They are going to put up a fight.”
Wednesday’s doubleheader will begin at 3:30 p.m. CT. Game two will follow approximately 35 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
Both games are available on the SEC Network+. JJ Jackson will be joined in the booth by Auburn softball alumna Shelby Lowe. Jacob Hillman will have radio coverage on WEGL 91.1 FM and the Auburn Sports Network.

Auburn leads the all-time series with a 16-2 record, which includes 13 consecutive wins over the Blazers. The Tigers have won the last four games via run-rule. Auburn’s last loss in the series came at Jane B. Moore Field on Feb. 25, 2003.
UAB enters the midweek coming off an American Conference series loss to Wichita State. The Blazers earned a 2-1 win on Sunday to prevent a sweep. UAB has seen SEC competition earlier this season with two losses to both Mississippi State and Alabama.
Bella Wiggins leads the Blazers at the plate with a .427 average behind 50 hits, including 12 for extra bases. She leads the team with 31 runs scored and has added 2 RBI. Wiggins ranks third in the American Conference with 16 stolen bases. Three Blazers have recorded 20 or more RBI this season. Lindsey Smith is tied for the team lead with 23 and has slugged five home runs this season.
The Blazers hold a 4.86 team earned run average entering Wednesday. Caroline McLendon has eight wins to her credit behind her 3.93 ERA. She also leads the team with 59 strikeouts. UAB is solid defensively as it leads the American Conference with a .970 team fielding percentage.
Auburn is coming off its first SEC series win of the Malveaux era as the Tigers took two of three in Lexington. It was Auburn’s first series win at Kentucky since 2016.
AnnaLea Adams continues to shine in her freshman campaign. In Auburn’s last 27 games, Adams is hitting .429 at the plate behind 33 hits, which includes six doubles and six home runs for a .740 slugging percentage. She leads the team with 19 RBI over that stretch, which includes driving in both runs in Auburn’s 2-1 win to open the Kentucky series.
She enters the midweek with the second highest batting average (.415) and third highest slugging percentage (.744) recorded by a Tiger freshman. Despite not playing in nine of Auburn’s 39 games, the freshman still ranks in the top five on the team in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage (.430), hits (34), RBI (22), doubles (6), home runs (7) and total bases (61).
Nelia Peralta became the 20th Tiger in program history to start 200 career games with her three starts at Kentucky. Quietly consistent, the shortstop enters the midweek on an active nine-game hit streak.
At the plate, Auburn has matched 95.5 percent of its 2024 home run total of 45 as the Tigers have slugged 43 home runs through the first 39 games, ranking ninth in the SEC for total home runs. Anna Wohlers and Icess Tresvik are tied for the team lead with eight homers each. Wohlers is also tied with Peralta for the team lead in RBI as the duo have both driven in 26.
Tresvik and Wohlers join Peralta as returning starters that have surpassed their 2024 home run totals while Abbey Smith, Rose Roach and Kylie Brockman have all hit the first home runs of their respective careers.
SJ Geurin is tied for the SEC lead and ranks tied for second nationally with 17 wins in the circle. Geurin has been directly involved in 21 of Auburn’s 24 victories by either recording the win or the save. She leads Auburn with a 2.89 ERA and 72 strikeouts.
Auburn boasts the third toughest schedule in the country as its opponents hold a .677 winning percentage entering Wednesday. The Tigers are also one of 19 teams nationally to have 10 or more wins over top 50 RPI teams.
