Six former members of the Auburn Basketball program participated in the 2025 NBA Summer League, which took place in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nevada, from July 5-20, highlighted by Philadelphia 76ers second-round draft pick Johni Broome. Below is a recap of the former Tigers’ highlights.

Broome, who was drafted 35th overall by the 76ers in June’s NBA Draft, averaged 11.6 points and 7.4 rebounds in seven games. He shot 38.7 percent from 3-point range and had reached double figures in three contests. Broome’s best performance came in his last game July 16 when he scored 22 points on 8-of-19 field goals, 4-of-11 from long range and 2-of-2 from the free throw line to go with 13 rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block in 32 minutes against the Dallas Mavericks and his former Auburn teammate Miles Kelly.

“They’re getting a great teammate, a guy that wants to win, a guy that wants to compete”, said Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl. “We would not be in the Final Four without Johni Broome. He represented the name on the front of the jersey, and the name on the back of the jersey. He cared about Auburn basketball.”

Dylan Cardwell and the Sacramento Kings went 5-1 advancing to the championship game before falling to the Charlotte Hornets 83-78 in Sunday’s title matchup. On the evening, the former Tiger finished with five points, two steals, one rebound and one block in eight minutes off the bench. Overall, Cardwell averaged 2.3 points on 66.7 percent shooting and 3.3 rebounds in six games.

Chaney Johnson scored 12 points and added four rebounds, three assists and three steals and made 6-of-8 shots from the field in 25 minutes for the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday. Johnson averaged 5.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in four games for the summer.

Denver Jones averaged 3.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in 13.0 minutes in three games for the Cavaliers, including six points and four rebounds against the Miami Heat on July 13.

Miles Kelly averaged 12.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assist in five games and made 2.4 3-pointers per contest for the Dallas Mavericks. Kelly had three games in double figures, and just like Broome, he had his best outing against his former Tiger teammate when he produced a 21-point effort against Broome and the 76ers on July 16 as he went 5-of-13 from beyond the arc.

“He can really shoot it. He plays with pace, and he’s not afraid of the moment,” said Mavericks Summer League head coach Josh Broghamer of Kelly. “You saw him step into some big shots today. He’s learning how to get to his spots more efficiently, but the confidence is there.”

Jaylin Williams played in three games for the Mavericks and averaged 3.0 points and 4.3 rebounds. Williams had his best game against the 76ers with five points and six rebounds as well as one assist and one steal in 20 minutes of action against the 76ers.
