AURORA, Ontario – Auburn women’s golf opened the Canadian Collegiate Invitational with a 4-under 284 on Monday at Beacon Hall Golf Club. The Tigers sit in second place as a team, while sophomore Anne Fernandez is second individually after firing a 4-under 68.
“Really rough start with big numbers,” Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. “After two holes, play was suspended for two hours due to inclement weather. We needed that reset as we came out making birdies everywhere.
“Charlotte (Cantonis) started with a triple bogey and a bogey but proceeded to make seven birdies. Anne (Fernandez) fired a career low and credited her good play to excellent commitment. The greens were rock hard in the practice round and there was a lot of apprehension about the ability to score. Several inches of rain later and the golf course played completely differently. Tomorrow should be fun for this young group.”
The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes, but it has been shortened to 36 after inclement weather delayed the first round. With one round remaining, Auburn is three strokes behind leader Kent State and six shots clear of third-place Ole Miss.
Fernandez carded six birdies to lead the way for the Tigers and record her career low in her 2025-26 season debut. The sophomore trails individual leader Veronika Kedroňová of Kent State by two shots entering the final round.
Freshman Charlotte Cantonis bounced back after opening with a triple bogey and a bogey on her first two holes. She then went bogey-free over her final 16 holes with seven birdies to finish at 3-under (69). Cantonis tied Kedroňová for the most birdies on Monday and is tied for third individually.
Sophomore Balma Dávalos shot even-par 72 with four birdies and is tied for 14th. Junior Anna Davis provided the team’s final counting score with a 75 (+3) and is 24th individually.
In her collegiate debut, Frances Brown carded a 76 (+4) as an individual and tied her teammate Molly Brown Davidson for 30th place.
Tuesday’s final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
