AUBURN, Ala. – No. 3 Auburn equestrian took down second-ranked South Carolina in its SEC home opener by a 13-6 score Saturday at the Auburn Equestrian Center in Auburn, Alabama. Auburn claimed four of five points in both Horsemanship and Reining in the victory. Three Tigers earned Most Outstanding Performer honors: Avery Glynn in Fences, Callie Hogg in Horsemanship and Alexia Tordoff in Reining.
“I’m really proud of the performance today,” Auburn head coach Jessica Braswell said after the win. “It was a big win at home against a really good team. The Western discipline came out and rode really well. We were really good on the Flat, too — we’re making big improvements there.
“Callie Hogg had a great ride in Horsemanship — that’s her career high score in Horsemanship. I’m proud of getting three of the Most Outstanding Performers. We get a week off, then we’re back getting ready for our final meet of the fall against Georgia.”
Auburn got off to a strong start, claiming four of five points in Reining. Tordoff earned a 72-69.25 win in her MOP performance, while Sofia Tieche picked up her first collegiate victory in the event by a 71-70.25 score. Hogg edged her opponent 70-69.5, and Michelle Fumagalli won on Rimba 69.75-67.75.
The Tigers went 3-2 on the Flat. Glynn led Auburn with an 88.5 in her win. Sadie Berkhout picked up her third Flat victory of the season by a 77.5-73.5 score, and Caroline Olsen won riding Cory to a 76-72.5 decision.
Auburn took a 7-3 lead into the halfway point of the meet.
The Horsemanship squad followed with another strong showing, going 4-0-1. Hogg earned her first MOP honor of the season with a 77.75-75 win. Tordoff maintained her perfect record in Horsemanship, earning her fifth win of the year at 75-73.5. Brooke Jolstad won 74.75-72.25 riding Shrek, while Sydney Swallom claimed a 74.25-68.25 victory on Chopper.
In Glynn’s MOP Fences ride, she edged South Carolina’s Natalie Jayne 91-90.5 to remain perfect this season at 10-0-0 overall. Freshman Olsen earned her fourth win of the year over Fences with an 87.5-86 result. South Carolina claimed the other three points to take Fences 3-2.
Auburn now holds a 4-1 overall record and has evened its SEC record to 1-1. With the win, the Tigers improved their all-time series lead over South Carolina to 40-21 and have now won each of the last three regular-season meetings against the Gamecocks.
Auburn will conclude the fall portion of its 2025-26 schedule at home against No. 1 Georgia on Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. CT. Admission to the SEC showdown at the Auburn Equestrian Center will be free.
