AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn distance runners Nickson Chebii and Joshua Kosgei will open their 2025 indoor track and field season at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday, December 6, at the Boston Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Kosgei will race in the men’s mile at 11:25 a.m. CT, while Chebii will compete in the men’s 5000m at 6:10 p.m. CT.
Chebii enters the indoor season following an impressive cross country campaign. The junior placed 41st at the NCAA Championships with a collegiate-best 29:07.80 in the men’s 10k.
He earned First Team All-SEC honors after capturing the silver medal at the conference meet, secured USTFCCCA All-Region recognition for the second straight year with his third-place finish at the NCAA South Regional. He became the fourth Auburn man to qualify individually for the NCAA Championships twice.
Chebii returns to Boston after a standout performance at this meet last year. He broke Auburn’s 5000m school record, running 13:38.16 to surpass Chris Fox’s 1980 mark of 13:44.73. He finished 36th overall.
Kosgei begins his first indoor season for the Orange and Blue as he looks to carry his momentum from the cross country season into indoors after finishing in the top three at three meets.
