AUBURN, Ala. – Behind her standout Saturday doubleheader performance to secure Auburn softball’s series win over Kentucky, junior SJ Geurin was named one of Softball America’s Stars of the Week.

The publication highlights four athletes across the country each week for their performances in the categories of player, pitcher, freshman and defender. Geurin earns her second pitching honor from Softball America after earning recognition last February.

Geurin earned both victories in Saturday’s doubleheader sweep of the Wildcats, helping Auburn open Southeastern Conference play with a series win for the first time since 2022. It also marked back-to-back series wins over Kentucky for the first time since 2018.

The Leander, Texas, native went the distance in the first game of Saturday’s slate. After giving up a hit in the first inning, Geurin held Kentucky hitless over the next four frames, allowing Auburn to even the series with a 6-2 victory.

The rubber game was a marathon that featured a two-hour weather delay and took 13 innings to decide. After her complete-game effort earlier in the afternoon, Geurin returned to the circle in relief in the top of the ninth inning.

Geurin tossed 4.2 innings of scoreless relief and held the Wildcats to just two hits, giving the Tigers a chance to ultimately walk off the game in the 13th inning to secure the series win.

She closed the weekend with a 1.20 ERA, allowing just seven hits across 11.2 innings while holding the Wildcats to a .167 batting average. Geurin struck out six across her two appearances.
