  • The shutout marked Auburn’s first road shutout to open SEC play since 2002.
  • Retired the last 11 batters he faced in the outing after allowing a one-out double in the fourth inning.
  • Needed just 82 pitches, 57 of which were strikes, to get through seven innings prior to his outing being cut short due to a lighting delay.

  • It marked his fourth start this season with eight or more strikeouts.
  • Got ahead in the count against 18 of the 25 batters he faced in the outing and threw 62 of his 92 pitches for strikes.

  • Turned in a career-high 7.2 innings to lead Auburn to finish off the SEC road sweep at Missouri.
  • His 7.2 innings pitched were the most by an Auburn pitcher this season and the most since Tommy Vail turned in 8.0 innings at Ole Miss on May 12, 2023.
  • Need just 38 pitches to get through the fourth and 48 pitches to get through the fifth before ultimately throwing a career-high 90 pitches in his first career SEC start, 59 of which were strikes.
  • Faced just one batter over the minimum in his first 4.0 innings of work and allowed multiple baserunners in two of his parts of eight innings.

Team Notes

Auburn extended its winning streak to 10 games with four wins against UAB and Missouri last week … it marks the program’s first 10-game win streak since doing so from Feb. 16-Mar. 2 of last season and is tied for the second longest streak in the country … the Tigers are off to a 17-2 or better start for the seventh time in program history, including the third time under head coach Butch Thompson … the other occasions are 1976 (17-2), 1997 (20-2), 1999 (21-2), 2007 (17-2), 2018 (19-2) and 2019 (20-2) … the SEC opener at Missouri marked the first time the Tigers opened SEC play with a road sweep since 2010 at Georgia … it marks the first time the team opened SEC play with a sweep since 2019 vs. Tennessee … in four games last week, the pitching staff turned in a 1.29 ERA, allowing five earned runs in 35.0 innings pitched … starting pitchers recorded a 0.67 ERA in 26.2 innings of work … the 2-0 shutout in the opener at Missouri marked the first SEC road shutout since also shutting out Missouri, 3-0, on May 21, 2021 … it marked the first SEC opener shutout since 2019 (2-0 vs Tennessee) and first SEC road opener shutout since 2002 (3-0 at Tennessee) … in a six-game span from Mar. 3 vs. Samford through the opener at Missouri, Auburn didn’t allow more than two runs in a game … it was the first time allowing five runs in a six-game span since 2019 and the first time allowing two runs or less in six straight games since 2015 … the extra-inning win in the middle game marked the team’s second extra-inning win of the season and third extra-inning game … it marked the team’s fourth one-run win and fifth one-run game of the season … on the weekend, the starting rotation all turned in 7.0 or more innings pitched for the first time since Apr. 25-26, 2014 at Arkansas … starting pitchers have now pitched 5.0 or more innings in 16 of 19 games this season … Auburn enters the week ranked in the top 10 in the country in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.76; 1st), walks allowed per 9.0 innings (2.06; 1st), ERA (2.33; 2nd), WHIP (0.97; 2nd), hits allowed per 9.0 innings (6.67; 9th), shutouts (3; 9th) and strikeouts per 9.0 innings (11.9; 10th) … the 17-run outburst vs. UAB in the midweek matched a season high for runs scored … the Tigers collected a season-high eight extra-base hits, including four doubles and four home runs.
