BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore left hander Jake Marciano has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week after throwing 7.0 scoreless innings in his SEC debut at Missouri.

It marks the fourth straight week an Auburn player has been recognized by the conference after Ethin Bingaman and Mason McCraine earned back-to-back SEC Freshman of the Week honors for weeks two and three and Jackson Sanders was named the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week last week.

Making his fifth straight series-opening start, Marciano turned in a career-high 7.0 shutout in the SEC opener at Missouri. It marked his second straight scoreless outing and third of the season, having now started in two of the team’s three shutouts on the year, a top-10 mark in the country. The 2-0 shutout marked Auburn’s first road shutout to open league play since 2002.

The Bayville, N.J., native retired the last 11 batters he faced in the outing after allowing a one-out double in the fourth inning. He needed just 82 pitches, 57 of which were strikes, to get through seven innings prior to his outing being cut short due to a lighting delay.

Through his first five starts in an Auburn uniform, Marciano ranks top six in the league in ERA (0.93), strikeouts (42) and innings pitched (29.0).

Riding a 10-game winning streak, Marciano and the No. 4 Tigers (17-2, 3-0 SEC) host No. 3 Georgia Tech (17-3, 4-2 ACC) Tuesday at 4 p.m. CT before the SEC home opener against No. 2 Texas (18-1, 2-1 SEC) this weekend at Plainsman Park.
