AUBURN, Ala. – Refreshed from its BYE weekend in conference play, Auburn softball (21-10) hosts Florida A&M (16-13) and South Alabama (20-14) at Jane B. Moore Field in the final home midweek contests of the regular season.

“We’re shifting gears from SEC play with this midweek stretch,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux. “It’s important that we use these games to reset and keep that attack mindset throughout. These are important games against teams that are going to be in the conversation for their respective conference titles. It’s a great challenge for us before we dive back into conference play.”

Auburn’s slate begins Monday as the Tigers welcome back Auburn softball alumna Brittany (Scott) Beall and her Floria A&M Rattlers for a 5 p.m. CT contest. Beall was an outfielder for the Tigers from 2005 to 2008. Lyn Rollins and JJ Jackson will have coverage on SEC Network+.

It’s Pickleball Night at Jane B. Moore Field. A court will be set up for fans to participate in games until the fifth inning.

The homestand continues Wednesday as South Alabama makes its trip to the Plains. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT. Graham Doty and JJ Jackson will provide coverage on SEC Network+.

Auburn trekked to South Alabama last Tuesday, defeating the Jaguars 11-2 in five innings. Freshman Delaney Aumua led the charge, driving in six of Auburn’s 11 runs. Auburn also drew a season-high 12 walks in the contest.

Wednesday is Auburn’s annual Military Appreciation Game. Fans will receive a free “Beverage Boot” while supplies last.

Both contests will feature Diamond Deals as fans can enjoy $2.50 hot dogs and $5 domestic brews.

Brit Bowen will have radio coverage for both midweek contests on WEGL 91.1. Fans can also listen on the Auburn Tigers website and mobile app or stream the booth cam on the Auburn Softball Facebook page.

Auburn continues its midweek stretch, playing four of its five midweek games in a nine-day span. The Tigers took down South Alabama and Jacksonville State last week, outscoring their opponent 21-5. Auburn is 11-2 against in-state foes under Chris and Kate Malveaux.

The Tigers enter the week with 48 total home runs, which rank fourth in the SEC and 15th nationally. Senior McKaela Walker and junior Ma’Nia Womack pace the team with 10 each. The duo is tied for 15th in the SEC. Auburn has been held without a home run only eight times this season.

Walker has one of the hottest bats in the lineup as of late. Over Auburn’s last 15 games, Walker is slugging 1.023 clip with 19 hits, 24 RBI and 18 runs scored. She is 4-for-7 (.571) this season with the bases loaded with three grand slams.

Sophomore Kylie Shaw has reached safely in 30 of Auburn’s 31 games. She has also recorded at least one hit in 23 games this season. Shaw leads the team in hits (35), runs scored (37), walks (34) and on-base percentage (.583). Shaw leads the SEC in walks and ranks sixth in on-base percentage.

Sophomore Ella Harrison anchors Auburn’s pitching staff. She ranks eighth in the SEC with nine wins this season. Harrison recorded her 300th collegiate strikeout in last week’s midweek contest versus Jacksonville State. She ranks seventh in the SEC with 87 strikeouts this season. Her 3.87 ERA is lowest on the staff.

Florida A&M has a contact-oriented lineup with some moderate power and aggressive base running. As a team, the Rattlers are 49-of-54 in stolen base attempts. Amari Brown is the heart of the FAMU offense, leading the team in batting average (.407), runs scored (28) and hits (37). She is second on the team with 34 RBI and has 19 extra-base hits this season.

Zoryana Hughes has seen the most innings in the circle from the Rattlers. Hughs holds a 6-3 record with a 3.95 ERA with 30 strikeouts.

Auburn is looking for its sixth straight victory in the series and holds a 6-2 overall record versus Florida A&M. The Rattlers are making their first trip to the Plains since competing in the 2005 Auburn Regional.

South Alabama relies on contact hitting and speed throughout its lineup. Virginia Mambelli leads the club at the plate with a .371 batting average and has added 23 hits and 19 RBI. Gracie Dees (.307) has a team-best 15 extra-base hits, including 11 doubles. Pitching is another strength for the program as South Alabama leads the Sun Belt with eight shutouts. Ryley Harrison has three of those shutouts and leads the team with a 2.57 ERA. She has struck out 97 and leads the staff with 11 wins.

Auburn holds a 9-2 advantage in the series and has won three consecutive games. Three of the last four games in the series have been decided by one run.
