AUBURN, Ala. – Sophomore Kate Hagerty of the No. 1 Auburn equestrian team was named the SEC Fences Rider of the Month for her efforts in February, the Southeastern Conference office announced.
The honor is the first for the Hagerty and the second of the season for the Tigers in Fences.
Hagerty, of Terrebonne, Oregon, went 3-0-0 in Fences in February for the Tigers. Two of her wins came on the road against SEC opponents, while all three of her victories were against nationally ranked teams.
She opened the month with a road win at then-No. 6 South Carolina, besting her opponent with an 86.5-84 win. Hagerty followed with a home victory vs. then-No. 4 SMU, scoring a meet-best 85 to win MOP. She capped the month with a huge victory at then-No. 3 Georgia, winning 81.5-78.5 and helping the Tigers go 4-1-0 vs. the Bulldogs in the event on the road.
No. 1 Auburn closes out the regular season Saturday, March 7, hosting No. 5 Texas A&M. The Tigers and the Aggies will go head-to-head at 11 a.m. CT at the Auburn University Equestrian Center and admission is free.
