BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Redshirt sophomore Alex Petrovic has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the week after his complete game shutout Sunday, the league office announced Monday.

Petrovic is the third Auburn pitcher of fifth player to be recognized by the league office this season. He joins Ethin Bingaman and Mason McCraine (SEC Freshmen of the Week) and Jackson Sanders and Jake Marciano (SEC Co-Pitchers of the Week) on the list.

Petrovic’s complete game shutout of Kentucky not only led Auburn to the program’s 14th home series win in the last 15 tries, but also marked the Tigers’ second complete game shutout in the last seven seasons, joining Samuel Dutton’s effort in a 10-0 win vs. Alabama on Apr. 4, 2025.

The Cypress, Texas, native retired the first 11 batters he faced, including four of the first six on strikeouts and ultimately finished with eight strikeouts, one shy of his career high. He needed just 19 pitches to get through two innings, 16 of which were strikes, and 30 pitches to get through three innings, 24 of which were strikes, before ultimately registering 75 percent strikes for the game.

The outing marked Petrovic’s second longest of his career – 7.2 innings at Missouri on Mar. 14 – and was his second quality start of the season.

He and the No. 6 Tigers (24-11, 8-7 SEC) wrap up an eight-game homestand vs. Alabama State (18-16, 8-7 SWAC) Tuesday before traveling to Gainesville, Florida, to take on the No. 7 Gators (27-10, 9-6 SEC) Thursday through Saturday.
