BELLEAIR, Fla. – No. 8 Auburn women’s golf advanced to the match play portion of the SEC Women’s Golf Championship on Sunday at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. The Tigers fired a final-round 1-under 279 and finished the stroke-play portion of the event in fourth place. The top eight teams following 54 holes of stroke play advance to match play.

“Today was a true display of mental toughness, staying steady no matter the situation,” Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. “Katie (Cranston) battled early adversity and responded with an incredible 4-under on the back nine, which really set the tone. Molly Brown (Davidson), Anna (Davis) and Charlotte (Cantonis) all contributed outstanding rounds, and it showed in how we competed as a team. It’s been a complete team effort over these past three days, and we’re excited to carry that momentum into match play.”

Auburn finished 2-under 838 through three rounds and seven shots behind leader Florida. The Tigers were five strokes ahead of the two teams tied for seventh. Auburn improved its position on the leaderboard by four spots from the end of round two.

For the second consecutive day, Auburn was led by freshman Charlotte Cantonis, who carded a 2-under 68 with four birdies. Cantonis’ 54-hole total of 205 (-5) resulted in a sixth-place finish, marking her fifth top-10 finish of the season. She set the best mark in the field for par-3 scoring at 3-under over three rounds.

Anna Davis and Katie Cranston each provided a counting score of even-par 70 on Sunday. Cranston made the turn at 4-over but bounced back with four birdies on the back nine. Davis finished tied for 31st at 3-over for the tournament, while Cranston finished 61st at 11-over.

Auburn sophomore Molly Brown Davidson provided the final counting score with a 1-over 71. Davidson’s 54-hole total of 212 (+2) resulted in a tie for 25th.

Auburn will begin match play in the quarterfinals against No. 21 Ole Miss on Monday morning starting at 7 a.m. CT. The semifinals will take place on Monday afternoon and the finals will be played on Tuesday.

Following Monday’s quarterfinals, the semifinals will stream live on SEC Network+ on Monday, and Tuesday’s championship match will be televised on SEC Network. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com.

Auburn has a rich history at the SEC Championship with 10 titles. Since the match-play format was introduced in 2018, the Tigers have won the event once, claiming the 2021 title.
