AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 1 Auburn men’s golf team returns to competition this week, traveling to Fort Worth for the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab, Sept. 28-29, at the Colonial Country Club.
“This tournament will be a big test for our team,” head coach Nick Clinard said. “We’re facing a field full of the best teams in the country on a course that hosts a prestigious PGA event every year. We’re looking forward to the challenge.”
TOURNAMENT FACTS
The Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab is being held on the par 70, 7,289-yard Colonial Country Club course.
The competitive field features 16 teams with 14 of those schools ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Top 25 poll. The tournament includes the No. 1 Tigers, No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Arizona State, No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 8 Texas, No. 9 Georgia Tech, No. 10 Vanderbilt, No. 11 Alabama, No. 12 Georgia, No. 14 North Carolina, No. 18 Oklahoma, No. 20 Stanford, No. 21 Pepperdine, No. 23 UCLA, TCU (RV) and Virginia (RV).
Monday’s round will consist of 36 holes with a shotgun start beginning at 8:15 a.m. CT. The Tigers will start on the back nine and are grouped with Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Texas. Tuesday will be tee times starting as early as 8 a.m. CT.

AUBURN LINEUP
Auburn’s starting five for this week are seniors Josiah Gilbert and Cayden Pope, junior Billy Davis, sophomore Logan Reilly and freshman Alex Holder. This is the same starting five that captured the Inverness Intercollegiate a couple of weeks ago in the team’s season opener.
Reilly and Holder lead the team with a 71.67 stroke average after the pair finished in a tie for sixth at Inverness. Reilly has a team-low 66 under his belt, while Holder went 72-71-72 in the first collegiate tournament of his career.
Davis counted all three scores at Inverness for the Tigers, highlighted by even 71 on the second day of the tournament.
Gilbert and Pope lead the team with the most rounds played collegiately as the pair are each at 46. The senior duo both finished tied for 26th at Inverness and Pope’s 68 in the second round is the second-lowest score for a Tiger so far this season.
UP NEXT
Auburn will take a couple weeks off from competition before heading to Wilmington, North Carolina for The Williams Cup presented by STITCH. The three-day tournament will be held at Eagle Point Golf Club, Oct. 18-20.
