FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 1 Auburn men’s golf team closed out a 36-hole, two-round day Monday on top of the leaderboard at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab. The Tigers are first with a 6-under 554 and are competed at the par 70, 7,289-yard Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
Auburn holds a two-stroke lead over No. 11 Alabama and No. 14 North Carolina, who are both tied for second at 4-under. No. 10 Vanderbilt is fourth (-2) and No. 5 Texas is fifth (+3). The 16-team field features 14 teams ranked in the Top 25.
Junior Billy Davis had a full day in the red as Spring Valley, California product finished out two rounds in a tie for first at 4-under 136. He opened the day with a season-low 67 and followed with a 69 in round two, having seven birdies to offset three bogies.
Senior Cayden Pope is tied for 10th individually with a 1-under 139. After going even in the first round, Pope finished with a 1-under 69 in the second. His second scorecard of the day featured two birdies and one bogie on the back nine and an even 35 on the front.
Senior Josiah Gilbert concluded his full day at 1-over 141 and is tied for 13th. He had a team-best eight birdies on the day and finished with an eagle on the first hole in the second round.
Freshman Alex Holder led off with a 2-under 68 in the first round, highlighted by five birdies and an eagle on hole 11. However, he offset that score with a 5-over 75 in round two and is tied for 27th (+3).
Sophomore Logan Reilly stands tied for 38th at a 4-over 144 (74-70).
The Tigers look to close out the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational on top Tuesday and will kick start their final round with tee times starting at 8:48 a.m. CT.
