AUBURN, Ala. – Coming off a dominant season-opening victory, Auburn women’s basketball looks to carry its momentum into Thursday’s matchup against Southern Miss.
The Tigers continue their three-game homestand at Neville Arena with tipoff set for 6 p.m. CT.
Thursday is Comedy Night for the Troops as Auburn honors local veterans ahead of Veterans Day. The evening will culminate with a halftime comedy show.
Brad Law and JJ Jackson will have the call on SEC Network+. The broadcast is available to eligible cable and streaming subscribers through the ESPN app or WatchESPN.com.
Brit Bowen and Larry DiChiara will provide radio coverage beginning at 5:45 p.m. CT on ESPN 106.7 FM. LAST TIME OUT
Auburn opened the 2026-27 season with a dominant 84-35 victory over Alabama State Monday night at Neville Arena. The Tigers used a 24-0 run spanning the first and second quarters to take control, outscoring the Lady Hornets 29-5 in the second period to build a 44-21 halftime lead.
Danielle Osho led five Tigers in double figures with 16 points, five rebounds, four blocks and three steals in her Auburn debut. Zahara Bishop added 13 points, while Jessica Peterson finished with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Sania Richardson contributed 11 points and five assists, and Savannah Scott chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.
It marked the first time Auburn has had five or more Tigers score in double figures in a game since 2023.
Auburn forced 23 turnovers and held Alabama State to 24 percent shooting, limiting the Lady Hornets to just 19 points over the final three quarters. The Tigers also connected on eight 3-pointers and held an opponent to its lowest scoring total under head coach Larry Vickers.
AUBURN-SOUTHERN MISS SERIES
Auburn owns a 4-2 all-time advantage over Southern Miss, including a perfect 3-0 record at home. The Tigers have won two of the last three meetings and earned a 77-39 victory in the most recent matchup on Dec. 5, 1997.
SCOUTING THE LADY EAGLES
Southern Miss opened the 2026-27 season with an 85-59 victory over Mississippi Christian on Monday. The Lady Eagles are coming off a 15-16 campaign that included an 8-10 mark in Sun Belt Conference play and a seventh-place league finish.
Head coach Missy Bilderback enters her second season leading Southern Miss, which returns five players from last year's roster and welcomes nine newcomers. Among the returners is 6-foot-5 senior center Timya Thurman, a former Auburn player. The Lady Eagles also added several experienced transfers, including guards Hayleigh Breland, Kennedy Langham and Kylie Marshall.
AN AUBURN WIN WOULD:
- Improve Auburn's all-time record against Southern Miss to 5-2.
- Give Auburn its third win in the last four meetings against Southern Miss.
- Mark the fifth consecutive season Auburn has started 2-0.
