AUBURN, Ala. – Sophomore Logan Reilly and freshman Alex Holder of the No. 1 Auburn men’s golf team were recognized for their efforts by the Southeastern Conference Wednesday. Reilly was named SEC Co-Golfer of the Week, while Holder earned SEC Freshman of the Week.

Reilly, of Lovettsville, Virginia, had a big week for the Tigers and helped the team win two tournaments in five days.

He opened the week with a strong showing at the prestigious East Lake Cup (October 26-28), winning a share of the individual title after stroke play at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. He carded a 7-under 65 to set a personal low on his way to winning the first collegiate individual title of his career. His 65 also set an 18-hole tournament record recently held by Scottie Scheffler (2016).

With his help, the Tigers finished first after stroke play as a team with a 13-under 375 to earn the top seed for match play. Reilly guided Auburn to an East Lake Cup victory as the team beat Arizona in the semifinal, 4-1, and No. 3 Oklahoma State, 4-1, in the final.

Reilly went 2-0 in match play to remain undefeated while wearing the AU. He opened with a 3&2 win over Arizona’s Matej Baca in the semifinal and followed with another 3&2 win in the final vs. Oklahoma State where he defeated the world’s No. 1 amateur, Preston Stout, in a come-from-behind victory.

Reilly closed out a busy stretch of golf with another solid showing, helping Auburn win its second tournament of the week as the squad took home the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational on Sunday, November 1. He finished tied for seventh overall with all three scores under par, starting with a 66 in the first round. He followed that with a 68 and a 71 to finish at 11-under 205. He totaled 16 birdies over three rounds.

Holder picked up the first SEC honor of his career after helping the Tigers win the Steelwood Collegiate – the third team title of the fall.

The Fort Wayne, Indiana product finished tied for ninth with all three of his rounds under par, totaling a 9-under 207. He opened with a 69 in the first round and followed with a career-low 67 in the second round last Saturday. His 1-under 71 Sunday led to a career-best, 54-hole total.

Holder finished with 12 birdies and two eagles on the weekend.
