Competed in the 100m free, 200m fly and 100m fly at the 2008 United States Olympic Trials... Qualified in the finals of the 100 fly where he swam to a fourth-place finish with a time of 52.31... Swam in the semifinals in the 200m fly where he finished 10th overall (1:59.31), also finished 40th in the 100m free (50.34)... At the NCAA Championships, McGill earned All-America honors in the 100 fly, along with two honorable mentions honors in the 200 fly and the 800 freestyle relay... Swam to an eighth-place finish in the finals of the 100 fly, posting a time of 46.39... Swam the lead leg in the 800 free relay (6:26.11) that finished 11th... Individually, he also swam to a 10th-place finish in the 200 fly (1:43.15) and a 17th-place finish in the 200 IM (1:46.04)... At the SEC Championships, he swam the lead leg in the 800 free relay that finished third (6:26.10)...
