Jeremy Napier is in his second season as chaplain for the Auburn men’s basketball program.

Prior to coming to the Plains, he served as character coach/chaplain for the Marshall men’s basketball team and the Spring Valley High School football team in Huntington, W.Va.

“For me, this a dream job combining my faith, my love of basketball, and my heart for leading people,” he said. “This basketball staff is second-to-none in the country. They are passionate, driven, competitive and are all high-character individuals."

He has had a heart to serve God and has done so by directing an after-school program called, “DayBreak” in Washington D.C, co-directing church camps and speaking at multiple venues (conferences, summer camps, basketball camps and leagues, churches, etc.).

Most recently, Napier excelled as a sales representative for Pfizer before making the transition to Auburn. He also served as a missionary in China, before becoming a member of the pastoral staff at First Baptist Church of Kenova.

A native of Huntington, W.Va., Napier is a graduate of West Virginia State University where he played collegiate basketball. He later earned his master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. During that time, Napier interned with Dallas Baptist University as a character coach – combining his love for basketball and sharing his faith.

He and his wife, Sharon, have three sons: Josiah, Judah and Joshuah.
