Eddy Ketelhut has been tabbed as an assistant coach for the Auburn softball program, head coach Mickey Dean announced Jan. 11, 2018. 

“Eddy brings a great deal of playing experience,” Dean said. “He played men’s fastpitch for 15 years, including seven years on the United States national team. He’s also coached championship-level ball with his team winning the PGF national championship last summer.

“Eddy is a grinder. He’s brings a great deal of knowledge to the game. He’s a hard worker and a good family man. I think he fits really well with our staff.”

Ketelhut was most recently the head coach of the Beverly Bandits 16U club team that went 68-6 over two seasons and won two titles, including the Triple Crown National Championship.

“I’d like to thank Mickey Dean to be at Auburn University and its heralded tradition,” Ketelhut said. “I look forward to the task at hand getting to know the kids, getting to know the university and competing for championships.”

Ketelhut also has experience at the collegiate level as he served as the hitting coach at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2013. While with the Titans, he was tasked with analyzing and evaluating swings, scouting reports and practice plans.

Before arriving on The Plains, Ketelhut was the owner and instructor for EK Fastpitch LLC, beginning in 2010. There, he provided lessons and clinics for elite travel teams.

Ketelhut was a two-year letterwinner as a member of the baseball team while attending Central Michigan University. During his time in Mount Pleasant, Mich., Ketelhut and the Chippewas won 59 games, including 37 in the Mid-American Conference.

Before playing at the Division I level, Ketelhut attended Seminole Junior College for two seasons.

Ketelhut and his wife, Sarah, have two children, Kaylee and Easton.
