Swam on the U.S. National Team at the 2008 FINA World Short Course Championships in Manchester, England... Finished ninth at Worlds in the 800m free with a time of 8:28.56... Competed in the 400m free and 800m free at the 2008 United States Olympic Trials... Qualified for the finals of the 400m free, finishing seventh in a time of 4:11.67... Swam to a 21st-place finish in the 800m free (8:45.81) at Trials... At the NCAA Championships, Bird earned three All-America honors... Individually, swam to a runner-up finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:41.95 and a fourth-place finish in the 1650 free (15:59.81)... Also swam the anchor leg (1:46.05) on the 800 free relay that finished eighth, posting a time of 7:06.71... At the SEC Championships, Bird swam to her first SEC title in the 1650 free (15:58.27)... Freshman Season (2006-07)
Competed in the 200m free, 400m free and 800m free at the U.S. Senior National Championships... Was the only Tiger to make a final in the 400m free, finishing second in the C Final with a time of 4:16.33... A two-time All-American at her first NCAA Championship meet... Finished seventh in the 500 free at NCAAs with a time of 4:42.64... Took 15th in the 1650 free with a time of 16:18.03... Also competed in the 200 free at NCAAs...
