Stephen Bowers enters his first season as a graduate assistant for the Auburn track and field program and will assist Mark Carroll with the cross country and distance runners.

From 2014-16, Bowers served as a volunteer assistant at Columbus State. While at CSU, Bowers worked mainly with the distance runners while also assisting with race strategy. He also helped with the coordination of home meets.

A native of Locust Grove, Ga., Bowers competed as a distance runner at Columbus State where he was a two-time All-Peach Belt selection. In 2012, he earned NCAA Southeast Region and First Team All-Peach Belt honors. Bowers earned USTCCCA Academic All-America honors all four years as an athlete.

Bowers earned his undergraduate degree from Columbus State in 2013 and a Master of Science in Exercise Science in 2015.

He is married to Kelly Anne Bowers of Johnstown, Penn.
