The McWhorter Center for Women's Athletics officially opened its doors in January of 2001. The 44,000 square-foot building is home to the Auburn University gymnastics team and softball team.

A large portion of the building functions as the permanent practice facility for Auburn gymnastics. The center also includes locker rooms and offices for the coaching staffs of both programs as well as training room and equipment spaces.

In the summer of 2023, the McWhorter Center underwent renovations that included brand new locker rooms, which included individual lockers and vanities for every student-athlete, new training and equipment rooms, updates to the main lobby and coaches’ offices and replacement of essential building systems. The $4.9 million dollar project was completed in January of 2024.
