LEXINGTON, Ky. - Auburn's Alexey Tsyrenov and Tim Puetz advanced to the doubles quarterfinals Thursday at the ITA Southeast Regional in Lexington, Ky.
The duo defeated Keith Crowley and Ignacio Taboada of Miami, 9-7, in the second round after a first-round bye. In the third round, Tsyrenov and Puetz defeated Josh Girling and Dean O'Brien of Tennessee Tech, 8-5.
In the quarterfinal match, Auburn will take on the No. 5 seed, Tennessee's Davey Sandgren and J.P. Smith, Sunday at 9 a.m. CT.
Singles competition is set to begin Friday. Tsyrenov and Puetz have a first-round bye while Lukas Marsoun will face Edson Lima (Florida Gulf Coast) at 1 p.m. CT.
