Oct. 7, 2008

TULSA, Okla. - The Auburn men's tennis team continued its fall success as the top two Tigers travelled to Tulsa, Okla., Tuesday for qualifying at the D'Novo/ITA Men's All-American Championships.

Tim Puetz and Alexey Tsyrenov both earned their way into the main singles draw based on last season's play, but are playing together for the first time in doubles, attempting to earn their way into the championship draw.

This is the first tournament of the fall for Peutz and Tsyrenov. The pair drew the No. 14 overall seed in the doubles qualifying round and were therefore allowed to bypass pre-qualifying play.

In the first qualifying round Tysrenov and Puetz defeated Ionut Beleleu and Andrei Daescu of Oklahoma, 8-6. Later in the day, the pair took on Drake's Mauricio Ballivian and Maor Zirkin and moved on to the third round after overcoming the Bulldog duo, 8-4.

Puetz and Tsyrenov will take on Illinois' Roy Kalmanovich and Marc Spicijaric in Wednesday's third round at 1:30 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
