Spec Towns Invitational Results in PDF Format 
AUBURN, Ala. -
The Auburn track and field teams were in action at two separate meets on Saturday, with most of their top competitors at the Sun Angel Classic hosted by Arizona State University. Another group competed at the Spec Towns Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia.
At the Sun Angel Classic, the Tigers focused primarily on racing their top female sprinters, while a few others were in action as well. Most of the Tigers competed during the "Premier" events Saturday night.
The Tigers won both of the women's relays, including the 4x100-meter relay. The team of senior Shaquela Williams, juniors Joanna Atkins and Sheniqua Ferguson and sophomore Nivea Smith clocked a time of 43.88 seconds, beating runner-up Oklahoma by nearly a full second. Although they won handily, their time was shy of their season-best mark of 43.38 that ranks No. 2 in the nation.
The Tigers posted a season-best mark in the 4x400-meter relay of 3:34.04 to beat second-place Penn State by nearly a second-and-a-half. Junior Cache Armbrister, sophomore CeCe Williams, junior Latoya Parkinson and Atkins recorded the ninth-best mark in Auburn outdoor history.
In the women's 200 meters, Atkins (23.38), Smith (23.51) and Ferguson (23.53) finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Only four other runners in the NCAA East Region had posted times as fast as Auburn's trio entering the weekend.
In addition, CeCe Williams placed fourth in the women's 400 meters with a time of 54.56 seconds.
The Tigers also had a few men in action in premier events. In the men's 200 meters, junior Michael DeHaven finished sixth in 21.10 seconds. He also joined sophomores Neil Danville, Spencer Ferguson and Marcus Rowland for a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:09.25.
In the earlier open events, freshman Maya Pressley won the women's high jump, tying her season-best mark of 1.78 meters (5-10). Senior Amelia Anderson (58.13) and Parkinson (59.07) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles, with Parkinson recording a career best, and both posting times that move them into the top 20 in the NCAA East Region.
Anderson also finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.05), one spot behind junior Krystal Bodie (13.94). In addition, freshman Kai Selvon was seventh in the 200 meters (24.45)
Meanwhile the Tigers also sent a small group to compete at the Spec Towns Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia.
Some of the top marks posted by Auburn athletes in Georgia came in the distance events, as the men's 1500 meters, sophomore Jeff Sanders finished fourth with a time of 3:51.87, while senior Scott Novack was one spot behind in 3:52.50. In the women's 1500 meters, freshman Grace Pritchard was sixth in a time of 4:53.64, and junior Amber Riley posted a time of 2:14.23 in the women's 800 meters to finish seventh.
The Tigers will return to action next weekend when Auburn hosts is second and final home meet of the season. The Auburn Invitational will take place on Friday and Saturday (April 16-17), and is free and open to the public.
