Gainesville, Fla. - Auburn's Marko Krickovic advanced to the quarterfinals in singles play in Saturday action at the SEC men's tennis Fall Tournament in Gainesville, Fla. Three Auburn players were second-round winners Saturday.
Krickovic will next face Florida's Maxx Lipman after defeating William Kallberg of Ole Miss, 6-2, 6-4, in the third round. Krickovic downed Mississippi State's Florian Lakat, the tournament's seventh seed, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-3, in the second round.
"This was a solid day from Marko to advance and win two rounds. He continues to get more comfortable and is looking forward to tomorrow," said Auburn head coach Eric Shore.
"Max played well and came up just short 6-4 in the third set after winning his first match today. Dante is playing better but cramped early in his third set, not from lack of conditioning. Tomorrow is a big opportunity for Marko."
In second-round play, fifth-seeded Lukas Ollert defeated Juan Cruz of Mississippi State, 7-6, 6-3. Ollert lost his third-round match to South Carolina's Kyle Koch, 7-5, 6-4.
Maxime Hinnisdaels was a second-round winner over Stefan Lindmark of Ole Miss, 6-4, 6-3. Hinnisdaels was defeated in the third round by Tennessee's Igor Smelyanski, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Auburn's Dante Saleh was defeated in the second round by Rhys Johnson of Vanderbilt, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Quarterfinal action continues Sunday afternoon. The finals are scheduled for Monday.
