AUBURN, Ala. - Senior infielder Cody Nulph had a career-high five RBI as Auburn baseball defeated Alabama A&M 15-1 on Tuesday at Plainsman Park.
"The hitting got contagious," Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. "We had a bunch of good at-bats there. We took balls and swung at strikes. Anfernee Grier was 1-of-2 but he's got four walks. Buentello gets another three RBI and Nulph, I guess is the story tonight with the five RBI. I think he got the first big hit of that inning and kind of blew the gap to left field. We played really good offensively."
The California native Nulph had a RBI double in the second inning and both a bases-clearing double and RBI single in Auburn's monster fifth inning.
The Tigers (5-3) tallied 10 runs in the fifth on eight hits, both season highs.
Niko Buentello had three RBI to increase his season total to 19. Daniel Robert added three hits.
Seven different Auburn hitters had a RBI.
Ben Braymer got the victory to improve to 1-0 on the season. He pitched two nearly perfect innings out of the bullpen with only a hit batter against him.
Cole Lipscomb and Gordon Cardenas both pitched two innings in relief.
Alabama A&M starter Brandon Marsonek took the loss with seven runs allowed in four-plus innings of work.
Cornelius Woods had the lone RBI for the Bulldogs.
The two clubs wrap the midweek series on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
