Auburn claims three event wins on Day 1 of War Eagle Invitational

AUBURN, Ala - The Auburn Tiger Track and Field team continued their javelin dominance for the second consecutive weekend with two event wins, during Day 1 of the War Eagle Invitational at Hutsell-Rosen Track.

Senior Justin Carter, competing in his last home meet, won the men's javelin throw with a mark of 69.80m/229-00. Senior John Putnam placed second in the event with a throw of 65.13m/213-08. In the women's javelin, freshman Kylee Carter brought home the gold with a throw of 47.79m/156-9, while junior Peyton Montgomery finished second with a mark of 45.73m/150-0.

In the women's triple jump, senior Jakayla Hand placed second with a PR mark of 13.43m/44-0.75.

The Auburn distance runners also had a very productive night. In the men's 5000m Invite, Senior Coleman Churitch finished second with a time of 14:17.70, while sophomore Silas Kipngetich finished third with a run of 14:33.13. In the women's 5000m Invite, sophomore Brenda Kigen ran a 16:50.58 to collect a first-place finish. Also in the 5000m Invite, freshman Joyce Kimeli ran a PR time of 17:19.20 to finish in third.
