AUBURN, Ala. – Here's a look at how the 28 former Auburn players on active NFL rosters fared this past weekend in Week Two of the NFL season.
BEST OF WEEK 2
Carlton Davis, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In his second NFL game, Davis finished with six tackles, one pass break-up and a fumble recovery as the Buccaneers beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-21. The rookie has now started in each of his first two games and played a total of 133 snaps.
Corey Grant, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Now in his fourth season in the NFL (all with the Jaguars), Grant had himself quite the productive day in an impressive team performance over the reigning AFC champions. The running back caught six passes for 56 yards and added 13 yards rushing on four attempts in a 31-20 win over the New England Patriots. Through the first two games, Grant is fifth among all running backs with a PFF receiving grade of 83.9.
C.J. Uzomah, TE, Cincinnati Bengals
Uzomah, the former fifth-round pick in 2015, played a key role in the Bengals' 34-23 win over the Baltimore Ravens. He finished with three receptions for 45 yards and hauled in a 29-yard reception in the first quarter on a touchdown drive that gave the Bengals an early 14-0 lead. He's also second among all NFL tight ends in run blocking with a grade of 78.6 through the first two weeks of the season.
OTHER TIGERS IN THE NFL
Montravius Adams, DT, Green Bay Packers
After playing two snaps in the first game, Adams saw six snaps in Week Two but failed to record any stats in 29-29 tie with the Minnesota Vikings. Adams, who was taken in the third round (No. 93 overall) is in his second season with the Packers.
Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Carolina Panthers
Artis-Payne was active but didn't see the field for the second straight week.
Peyton Barber, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Earning the start for the second straight week, Barber finished with 22 yards on 16 carries. He also caught one pass for seven yards, and his pass blocking grade on PFF (84.2) ranks fourth among all NFL running backs through the first two weeks of the season.
Daren Bates, LB, Tennessee Titans
Bates is in his sixth season in the NFL (second as a Titan) as the special teams captain. He did not record any stats in the Titans 20-17 win over the Houston Texans.
Angelo Blackson, DE, Houston Texans
Blackson recorded two unassisted tackles in a 20-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans, his former team. The fourth-year player was taken in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Titans.
Josh Bynes, LB, Arizona Cardinals
A week after leading the team in tackles, Bynes recorded six tackles and a pass break-up in a 34-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Through the first two games, the seventh-year pro now has 17 tackles and is No. 10 among all linebackers with a PFF grade of 77.8.
Daniel Carlson, K, Minnesota Vikings
The rookie kicker made all three of his PAT attempts but missed three field goals in a 29-29 tie at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers.
Sammie Coates, WR, Houston Texans
Coates was ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Tennessee Titans due to a nagging hamstring that hampered his Texans' debut the previous week. He's in his fourth NFL season and first with the Texans after being taken in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft.
Shon Coleman, OL, San Francisco 49ers
For the second straight week, Coleman did not play. The third-year player was traded from the Cleveland to the 49ers at the end of August.
Blake Countess, DB, Los Angeles Rams
Though Countess saw more snaps in Week Two, he didn't record any stats in a 34-0 win over the Arizona Cardinals. The former sixth-round pick is in his third season with the Rams.
Casey Dunn, C, Washington Redskins
Dunn did not play in a Week Two loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The rookie center made the 53-man roster after signing with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent in the offseason.
Dee Ford, LB, Kansas City Chiefs
The former first-round pick in the 2014 draft registered two solo tackles and one quarterback hit in a 42-37 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Through the first two weeks of the season, Ford has played 137 total snaps and has an overall PFF grade of 73.7.
Rudy Ford, S, Arizona Cardinals
Ford had one tackle in a 34-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The second-year player, drafted in the sixth round in 2017, now has three tackles in his first two games.
Josh Harris, LS, Atlanta Falcons
Harris served as the team's long snapper in their 31-24 win over the Carolina Panthers.
Kerryon Johnson, RB, Detroit Lions
The rookie running back saw double the amount of snaps (36) in Week Two and finished with eight carries for 43 yards and five receptions for 23 yards in a 30-27 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Through the first two games, Johnson has graded out well in receiving (75.1) and pass blocking (74.1), per PFF.
Devaroe Lawrence, DL, Cleveland Browns
Lawrence is in his first season with the Bengals after being traded over from the Saints. He had no stats in a 21-18 loss to the New Orleans Saints, his former team.
Carl Lawson, DE, Cincinnati Bengals
On Thursday night, Lawson played 53 snaps and recorded two unassisted tackles and one hit on the quarterback in a 34-23 win over the Baltimore Ravens. The second-year pro has a PFF grade of 69.7 rushing the passer through the first two games.
Brandon King, LB, New England Patriots
Playing primarily on special teams, King collected one tackle in a 31-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jonathan Jones, CB, New England Patriots
A week after grading out fourth among all cornerbacks, Jones recorded three tackles in a 31-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's now in his third NFL season after going undrafted in 2016.
Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers
It was vintage Cam Newton as the former Heisman Trophy winner went 32 of 45 for 335 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Newton also rushed for 42 yards on five carries and has now accounted for 596 total yards in his first two games.
Cody Parkey, K, Chicago Bears
Parkey was perfect again in Week Two. The fifth-year kicker made a 25-yard field goal and all three of his extra points to help the Bears beat the Seattle Seahawks, 24-17, on Monday Night Football. Parkey is now 4 of 4 on field goals and 5 of 5 on PATs this season.
Greg Robinson, OL, Cleveland Browns
For the second straight week, Robinson – the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft – did not play. He signed with the Browns this offseason after spending his four seasons in the Rams organization.
Braden Smith, OL, Indianapolis Colts
A week after registering four snaps, the rookie didn't see the field in Week Two. Smith was taken in the second round, No. 37 overall, by the Indianapolis Colts in April's NFL draft.
Neiko Thorpe, CB, Seattle Seahawks
Thorpe was active but failed to record a stat for the second straight week.
Jermaine Whitehead, S, Green Bay Packers
Though he didn't earn the start in Week Two, Whitehead played 25 snaps again and finished with three tackles and a pass break-up in a 29-29 tie against Minnesota Vikings. Through the first two games, the fourth-year safety has six tackles and an overall PFF grade of 76.4.
